How to prepare for a Yoga session
Before starting any type of Yoga session, it’s important to prepare your body.
If in the 12 hours prior to the session you prepare your mind and body for Yoga, as a result you’ll receive 100% of all the benefits your practice can offer.
Here are 5 tips to help you prepare for Yoga.
1. Stay hydrated in the 24 hours prior to your session.
It’s essential to keep your body well-hydrated throughout the day, but it’s even more important to do so before practising Yoga. Sometimes, a Yoga class can make you sweat and push your body to the limit at certain points during the session. When this happens, your body starts to release more toxins. By drinking enough water beforehand, though, you’ll be able to push through those moments much more easily.
2. Empty stomach.
Before a Yoga session, it’s best to not have eaten anything in the last 6-8 hours. If you practise in the afternoon, however, try to do so at least 3 hours after your last meal.
3. Keep your mind free from thoughts
When you enter your Yoga space, this is when you should forget everything that’s going on outside, disconnect and let go of any tension. In this way, you’ll be able to relax and fully connect with your inner self.
4. Have all the necessary, good-quality material
There is a wide range of mats, blocks and other products made of different materials.
Find those that will help you feel good and safe during your practice.
Here at naturyoga, we have 14 different mats so that you can find the ideal option for you, with your preferred designs, colours and qualities: between a slip-resistant mat (Esmerindia), cork mat (Line Karmandala), thin mat (GreenIndia), or a thicker mat (BrownIndia) to protect your joints.
We also have “Props” such as: our Iyengar yoga chair, yoga blankets, pine blocks, bamboo blocks and cork blocks.
5. Be aware of the state of your body
Before starting your practice, close your eyes and breathe. Observe your body and feel its limits for that particular day. If you have any injuries or if you have any questions about certain poses, ask your instructor.
Yoga is meant to keep you healthy, not cause health problems!
Be well-prepared for your Yoga practice and enjoy it!
